Fate Core is a flexible roleplaying system that works for almost any genre, from pulp adventure to science fiction to fantasy. Characters are described with aspects, short phrases that capture who they are and can be invoked for bonuses or compelled to cause trouble. Players roll four Fate dice, each showing plus, minus or blank, and add a skill rating. Fate points move back and forth between players and the GM as aspects come into play. Groups often build the setting together at the start, and sessions focus on story and character drama.
