Dominion is the card game that started the deck building genre, for 2 to 4 players in about 30 minutes. Each player is a monarch expanding a small kingdom, starting with an identical small deck of copper coins and estates. On your turn you play action cards, then spend your coins to buy new cards from a shared supply, which go into your deck. The goal is to own the most victory points when the game ends. A different set of 10 kingdom cards each game keeps strategies fresh.
